Principal
Mark Hewings is the principal, and is responsible for the running of the practice and all project work, including client consultations, site surveys and measures, preparing initial designs, detailed drawings and specifications.
As a Chartered Building Engineer Mark has over 40 years experience in the Construction Industry, most of which has been within Building Control. Having fulfilled a years contract with East Staffordshire Borough Council in November 2014, he elected to set up Hewings Building Design to provide architectural design and surveying services to his local clients.
Mark was Head of Building Control for South Derbyshire District Council managing a team of professional surveyors to deliver first class services. Additionally, five years working with one of the largest UK Contractors as a site engineer and construction planner has given Mark a strong commercial awareness and a unique ability to understand the perspective of all the parties involved in developing, designing and delivering a construction project.
Mark takes a robust pro-active approach and is focused on adding value to any project with his practical attitude, discerning judgement and commercial awareness. Self motivated and achievement driven with extensive technical knowledge.
